It’s no secret that the UK is desperately in need of doctors. Today most doctors leave full time training within two years of graduating and just this year the Royal College of General Practitioners announced plans to recruit more than 2,000 foreign GPs to fill shortages in the NHS. These shortages stretch across grades and specialties and paint a picture of a NHS in desperate need of applicants.
Despite these issues securing a job in the UK can be a challenge for international doctors. Jobs are posted on multiple jobs boards and there isn’t a unified application process between NHS Trusts. It’s difficult for an international doctor to find a suitable role given the complexities of the NHS and its requirements. Applications on the largest job site, NHS Jobs, are frequently lost and there is little to no support throughout this experience.
Even if you find a suitable role, between visa applications, right to work checks, immunisations, GMC registration, criminal record checks and language assessments you a long way from starting on the wards. Applying from abroad can be a full time job in itself.
That’s why we built Messly Talent, a platform and supporting staff to help foreign doctors find work in the UK.
How can we solve it?
Messly Talent flips the recruitment experience around by helping hospitals meet you online. What are the features?
When you create your Messly Talent profile you can show your specialty, work experience, skills and professional interests. Your profile will then be vetted and accessible to hospitals searching for the perfect doctors for their open roles.

Hospitals will be able to find your profile by looking for a doctor with skills and interests like yours. For doctors it’s as simple as checking your messages when a recruiter has reached out with a role in mind.

From your dashboard you can see all the recruiters interested in you and the roles they have available. You’ll be able to see all your options and access more roles than if you had applied through a recruitment agency.
If a role interests you the recruiter will help arrange an interview and move forward in the job application process. Throughout this process Messly’s team of doctors is available to support you with your applications including with examinations, GMC registration and language tests.
